Skagit Valley Tulip Festival 2024

I took a little time off to coincide with Haleigh’s spring break, and we checked out the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

The drive up to Mount Vernon was relatively peaceful. Clear views of the mountains, gray clouds giving way to blue skies. We arrived at RoozenGaarde Farms right as it opened, so we were among the first annoying tourists of the day. I had wanted to capture a sweeping wide angle landscape, but the image wasn’t very interesting – tulips up front, wide open space, little tiny mountains off in the distance. So, I pivoted. I switched to my (new favorite) Nikon 135mm f/1.8 lens. This is the relatively new Plena version, which I think is Nikon’s way of creating never-possible-before lenses with the new Z mount system.
